Compassion In Crisis: Learning to Live in an Age of Disaster

Co-written and curated by Kailea Frederick and Kate Weiner with vibrant cover art by Vyana Novus, Compassion in Crisis braids together interviews with survivors of climate disaster and resources on disaster preparedness to provide our community with an accessible guide to resilience and regeneration in the Anthropocene.

Compassion in Crisis is a study in self-sovereignty. In the midst of disaster, many communities of care have emerged independent of government intervention to take care of their own, rebuild homes, and nourish their extended network of kin. As we work together to navigate disaster and confront change, we hope that this offering will hold space for your grief, inspire you to cultivate resilience, and connect you to adaptation strategies.

The Allyship Booklet

The Allyship Booklet is offered by the Spirit Weavers ComeUNITY Village, an inclusive village within SW committed to creating community, conversations, and educational opportunities that center issues of equity and collective liberation.

This booklet was created as the Spirit Weavers community, became increasingly aware of the following needs:

1. The need for greater safety and inclusivity of the BIPOC SW Community

2. The need for white instructors and participants to understand and do their part in contributing to the greater gathering’s goal to fulfill those needs through allyship.

This Allyship Booklet includes: personal reflections, 6 clear points on how to move within your positionality, 35 defined key terms & concepts, and a compiled list of continuing education from books, podcasts, films and the people who we follow and learn from.

All proceeds from the booklet are donated and also collected by the team that helped to put it together as a way to continue offering scholarships for BIPOC to Spirit Weavers and to be able to invite and pay teachers to bring anti-racism work to the gathering.
